Dance A.M.D. was formed in July 1999, to give a talented
group of dancers, the opportunity to perform together
at a professional level.
They have been rehearsing regularly ever since and have
performed at many events around New Zealand, such as
Miss New Zealand, Telecom NZ, and Tip Top, not least
being the very successful Millennium Concert at Gisborne's
Town Clock, which was telecast throughout the world,
both on television and on the internet. They have
performed at Rumba in Auckland with many world class
performers (Shaggy, Pink etc) and most recently preformed as back up dancers for the NZ Hiphop Summit.

Annalise Wood, the founder of the group, has a
fifteen year history in dance, with many performances
and successful competitions to her credit. Her most
notable achievement was winning the New Zealand Planet
Dance competition in 1998 and going on to receive
the honour of being the world's best female freestyle
dancer in Singapore.
Annalise and her husband teach dance workshops, and it is from these
that she selected the most talented and committed
dancers to form Dance A.M.D. She is currently the
sole choreographer for the team, being responsible
for the very high energy dance routines.

The twelve dancers that make up the team, four male and eight
female, range in age from fifteen to adult. They were selected
from a variety of talented dancers, based on their ability
and versatility.

The wide variety of backgrounds that each person brings
to the troupe include: acrobatics, ballet, jazz, hip
hop, break dancing, gymnastics and street dancing: all
of which are incorporated into the dances where appropriate.
This group of young people, will be dancing their way
through the twenty - first century proving that New
Zealand has world class dancers. Their aims for the
future include live performances, back - up dancers
for bands - both live and for video clips, product endorsements,
corporate functions, and television performances.
